Reading Centers
Kindergarten is continuing moving forward in their reading skills. Some new centers we introduced are vowel sound tubs and matching words to objects drawers. We also used our movable letters box. The tubs are labeled with the short vowel sounds. We use a few tubs at a time and pour out the objects inside. The children say what the object is and determine which tub they go in. For example, the egg goes in the short e tub. With the alphabet drawer, each has a words that start with a letter as well as the object that's written on the card. The children sound out the words and try to match the correct object to it. To further this center, the children can take an object and try to spell it out with the wooden letters. To check their work, they can take the card to check their spelling.
