Today we began learning about the story of Chanukah. We spoke about how the Jews lived in the time of the Bais Hamikdash (the Temple). The children got to see a model of the Bais Hamikdash. We learnt about King Antiochus who tried to stop the Jews in Israel from learning Torah because he wanted them to behave just like him. We talked about the many things that make us special as Jews. We have Shabbos, the Torah, and Mitzvos. We illustrated a class book where every child drew a picture about something they are proud of being a Jew. There is still a lot more to the story which we will continue in the next few days.
