Hebrew Reading

We are moving along in our Alef Bais reading and we have begun the third vowel of Tzaray today. We learnt how our mouth is suppose to look when we say that vowel. After the lessons, we do all sorts of exciting centers to practice what was learnt.

February Is Literacy Month!

Dear Parents,

Please join our class in participating in Literacy Month this February! We have many exciting activities and events planned - all aimed at increasing your child's love of reading!

There will be many ways to participate - one of which includes visiting our classroom one day in February to read-aloud one of your child's favorite books!   We are starting to schedule parents now, so please let me know when you might be available.

The best times to come in are:
Monday & Wednesday 10-12:45 or 1-2:45
Tuesday 10-1
Thursday 10-1 or 2-2:45
Friday 10-12

However, we will be flexible with your schedule, just let us know whens good for you. There is a calendar hanging outside our classroom for you to sign up. Please write your name and the time you would like to come in. One parents per day please. You can come in the same weeks the book fair is going on as well. If you email me a time you would like to come in, I can write it in for you.

Once you've got a date scheduled, you will need to select the book that you would like to read to the class.  Here are some guidelines to consider:
a) It should be a book that your child enjoys reading at home.
b) Please keep in mind the length of the books we read in class are not too long to accommodate the attention of the children when being read to in a group. If you would like, let me know the book you would like to read and I can help you decide if it's too long or just right.

Please let me know which title you have selected in advance, so that I can ensure that you don't end up reading the same book as another parent :) Also, I can have a follow up coloring sheet or project for the children to do. (You are more then welcome to bring a project or coloring sheet to go along with your book as well) Hope to hear from you soon!

Sincerely,
Morah Dawn

Ari, Leon and David's Creations with Legos!

The children in kindergarten love building toys! The boys were so excited about their creations! I took a picture just to show their creativity! They made a tree, dog, duck and cat!

We Made Butter!

Kindergarten has been learning all about Pilgrim children and their chores. Part of their chore were tying the bundles of wheat, cleaning the animal pens, churning butter, serving meals, collecting eggs from the chickens, etc. We compared our lives today to those of the Pilgrim children. We all agreed things are a lot easier today! To get an idea of how hard the people then worked to get their food, we made butter. We poured the cream into a container and each child got a turn to shake hard eventually forming butter!
