Our New Kitchen!

We are all thrilled to have the new fashionable kitchen in our classroom. The Yeladim enjoy playing house and pretending to cook and bake.

Jewish Home Mezuza

We painted our new Jewish Home and now it is time to move in. But before we move in, we need to add Mezuzas to the doors.
We learnt all about how a Mezuza is made and what it is made from. The Yeladim each got a piece of parchment paper which is used to write a Mezuza, and they had an opportunity to write with a feather and ink just like a Scribe does. We spoke about the importance of a Mezuza and why we have it in our house. We went on a Mezuza hunt around the school building to see how many Mezuzas we can find.

Alef Bais and Vowels

We have completed the Alef Bais and celebrated it by having an Alef Bais/Vowels party. The Yeladim were given Alef Bais cookies and needed to find the letters of their name amongst it. We then played Alef Bais musical chairs. When the music stopped, the Yeladim found a chair and called out loud the letter that was on their chair. The Yeladim received special Alef Bais rulers which they can always look back at. We have begun learning  the first vowel Komatz which makes the sound uh! We discussed how our mouth looks when we make the sound and we have been doing many centers to practice combining the letters and vowels. The Yeladim are picking it up at a fast pace.

Reading-Word Families Continued...

Kindergarten is continuing learning all about Word Families. We have reviewed the AT and AN word families and have moved on to AP. Words like clap, map, lap. First we did our word family chart then we worked with magnetic letters to form words in this word family.
